Udenwa Hails Obasanjo's Economic Reforms
From Christopher Isiguzo in Owerri

Imo State Governor, Achike Udenwa, has described on-going economic reforms embarked by the Federal Government as a welcome development for the country. He also urged Nigerians to exercise patience as the dividends would soon begin to manifest.

In his address at the foundation laying ceremony of Cadland Foods Ltd, in Avu, a suburb in Owerri, Udenwa commended President Olusegun Obasanjo for coming up with the reforms, which he said could not have come at the a better time than now.

He said the reforms conformed with the spirit of his tripod vision of agriculture, industrialisation and re-orientation, which is also improving lives.

He used the occasion to commend Obasanjo on his commitment to improve Nigeria's image abroad, a situation he said has led to his recent unanimous election as chairman of the African Union (AU).

He added that the development was an indication that democracy had come to stay in Nigeria "after long years of military and dictatorial rule."

"For us here, we will continue to pursue those components of economic development and sustained discipline as our legacy to posterity," he assured.

On the establishment of the two and half billion naira Cadland plant, Udenwa said it was a living testimony from his overseas trips, during which he showcased the potentials of the state, to attract investors to the state. He, therefore, hailed the state representative at the Imo State Trade Office in Washington, Mr. Iyke Ibeh for facilitating the project.

He expressed hope that by the time the plant commences production, it would provide the much needed job opportunities for the unemployed, as well as contribute to the economic development of the entire South-east.
