Coca-Cola to Honour Ikhana, Others

Sponsor of the FA Cup, Coca-Cola Nigeria Limited, has concluded plans to honour current Confederation of African Football (CAF) Coach of the Year, Kadiri Ikhana (MON) and Sunny Oyarekhua, a former Police Machine forward and Nigerian international.
Coca-Cola, the largest soft-drink producer in the world, is honouring the duo and 10 other veterans for their contributions to the development of the game and the Coca-Cola FA Cup, formerly called the Challenge Cup, in Nigeria.
Ikhana, who made history when he led Enyimba to win the 2003 CAF Champions League was a key member of the Bendel Insurance squad which made an impact in the competition, while Oyarekhua, who is presently an Assistant Commissioner of Police, in the Osun State Police Command played for the Police. Machines Football Club in the 1970s.
Aside from Ikhana and Oyarekhua, others to be honoured by Coca-Cola include former New Nigerian Bank and Green Eagles defender, Sunday Eboigbe, former Bendel United defender, Monday Eguavoen, and then IICC shouting stars Kehinde Jaiyefus.
The list of veterans for the 2004 Coca-Cola FA Cup also includes former Bendel Insurance forward, Francis
Monidafe, Ebiyan Dediare, Amos Edoseghe, Jossy Dombraye, Sunny Ine and Alloysius Atuegbu.
In addition, Coca-Cola would give a post-humous award to the late Felix Agbonifo, who made waves for Bendel Insurance in the old Challenge Cup.
Speaking on the awards, Senior Brand Manager, Coca-Cola Mr.Yinka Akande said: "This is Coca-Cola's way of appreciating the contributions of the players who made the competition what it is today. We all have memories of their exceptional skills while competing for their respective clubs in the past." Property and Media Manager, Coca-Cola, Mr. Soyinka Sonuga expressed confidence that players in the 2004 Coca-Cola FA Cup would emulate the veterans who were impressive during their playing days. "With the awards for veterans, the players would have it in mind that Coca-Cola has a system of rewarding excellence. Nigerian footballers can make their dreams real with the Coca-Cola FA Cup," he said.
