Ogun to rate
board members on performance
By Segun Adeleye,

Ogun State
Governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, has said the effectiveness and
proficiency of board members would determine their continued relevance
and retention on parastatals and agencies in the state.
Inaugurating chairmen and
members of the Boards of Ogun State Property and Investment Corporation
(OPIC), Gateway City Development Company and the Housing Corporation on
Wednesday in Abeokuta, the governor said every stakeholder should tune to
the “business unusual” singsong of his administration.
Daniel, who advised the
various boards to collaborate and co-operate, said: “You are to avoid by
all means needless territorial wars and turf control battles that could
further complicate your operations.”
According to the governor, the
Gateway City Development Company Limited will focus on developing
Isheri-Arepo-Sagamu axis by turning it into a well planned residential
and industrial estate. Besides, he challenged it to evolve creative
strategies to take advantage of over-flowing neighbour state.
“The Ogun State Property and
Investment Corporation will concentrate on special projects such as the
five-star hotel being developed in collaboration with the Marriot Group
as well as managing the various industrial estates in the state,
especially in the Agbara-Ota axis,” he said.
Explaining the inauguration of
the Sports Commission, the governor said the assurance to win the 2006
National Sports Festival hosting right informed the constitution of the
board, as he urged the Housing Corporation to concern itself with the
provision of quality, modern and affordable houses.
Meanwhile, Mr. Kayode Anibaba
has been appointed as a special adviser to the governor to oversee the
newly established Bureau of Urban and Physical Planning, apart from being
a consultant on environment and physical planning.
