The initiators claim they want to crack jokes that Christians will be comfortable with, that is, no lurid or cheap jokes about sex and immorality. While I commend the organisers that such jokes offend Christians (and even Moslems and atheists), it appears they are falling into the same moral trap that has turned many Nigerians into moral schizophrenics. That is God's man on Sunday and Ceasar's man or (the devil's) Monday through Saturday. If a comedian claims to be a Christian, the light of Christ should shine in his jokes even when speaking to a non-religious audience. I am not implying that jokes must be pious. Jokes about sex debase human beings: the listeners, the comedian and the victims (who most times are ladies) and do not reflect a conscious effort to be humorous, it really does not take much effort to crack a joke about sex.
