Daily Champion checks showed that the impressive outing was a leap of N433 million over the previous year’s figure. The bank also announced a whopping 56 per cent growth in its shareholders’ funds, from N27 billion in 2003 to N41.5 billion this year, an evidence of its preparedness to play as a megabank. During the year, gross earnings rose by N721 million, from N50.59 billion to N51.31 billion. However, to compensate its numerous investors for their loyalty during the year, the bank has approved N5.5 billion as dividend at the rate of N1.55 per share. Besides, the directors have proposed a bonus share of one share for every eight shares currently held by shareholders. First Bank has scheduled its 35th Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Congress Hall, NICON Hilton, Abuja, August 19.
