The college will also be renamed after Late Dr Mohamet Lawan, a veteran agriculturist and founder of the college that day. The late Dr Lawane was the biological father of the wives of the present governors of Borno state, Senator Ali Sheriff and his Yobe state counterpart, Alhaji Bukar Abba Ibrahim. The BOCA Provost, Dr Bukar Ali Usman who made these known during the pre-convocation briefing at the college in Maiduguri stressed that the re-naming of the college after the late veteran was in appreciation of his immense contribution towards agricultural development in the state. According to him, Dr Mohamet Lawan "had spent all his working life towards the advancement of agricultural practice within and outside the state. " He said two books will be launched during the ceremony, expected to be attended by the honorable minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Alhaji Adamu Bello, and other State governors. One of the books was written by the late Mohamet Lawan himself, while the other is a biography of his life as put together by the College management.
