Saraki Seeks Support for White Farmers From Tunde Sanni in Ilorin The Kwara State government in its bid to strengthen agriculture and make it one of the main stay of the state economy has gone to financial institutions, seeking their support for active farming. Specifically, Governor Bukola Saraki while hosting top management of the Union Bank of Africa led by its Managing Director, Alhaji Aliyu Dikko has asked the bank to provide credit facilities for Zimbabwean farmers relocating to the state. The governor told the UBA delegation that commercial farming of the White farmers standard require huge capital for infrastructure and irrigation. "Once you get commercial farming going, it will rub off and improve local farmers who will benefit from improved seedlings and irrigation". He craved for the bank support in granting micro credit support to small and medium scale industries. Saraki further wooed the bank to support the housing scheme of his administration in order to play a role in the provision of houses for low income workers. However, in order to discharge the requests of the governor effectively, Saraki directed the bank to open more branches in the state and employ more Kwarans.
