Ebute Metta Fire Victims Seek Help By Eugene Agha Victims of the inferno that ravaged Oko Baba area of Ebute Metta, Lagos, have sent a passionate appeal to both the Federal and Lagos State governments to come to their aid before the arrival of the rains. Addressing journalists in Lagos, the chairman of Kadara Marrina/Coates Street Fire Disaster Association, Mr. Idria Balogun, said some of them may loss their children if help to come there way on time. According to him, majority of the victims who have no place to go since the fire incidence are sleeping in an open field in the area. "We do not want to begin to apportion blame to anybody over the cause of the fire but since it had happen, we call on the state and the Federal Government to come to our aid", he said. Balogun further said the reason the committee was set-up by Governor Bola Tinubu, during his visit to the area after the fire, was for the affected persons to be able to harness their views and come up with the kind of assistance they want from the state government. According to him, during the visit, the governor promised members of the committee that they would work with his commissioners on how to rebuild the affected houses. He also explained that the reason for the appeal was as a result of the rainy season that was around since majority of its members were presently homeless and have been living in squalor.
