FG, NLC Urged to Resolve Face-off Bauchi The Akwa Ibom Develop-ment Association (ASDA), Bauchi State Chapter, has called on the parties involved in the face-off to evolve an agreeable modality for fixing the pump prices of petroleum products in the country. In a press statement in Bauchi made available to THISDAY yesterday, President of the Association, Dr. Ibanga Akpabio urged the NLC and the Federal Government to respect the order of the Federal High Court Abuja on the issue "in the interest of our fragile democracy and national interest". Akpabio, a Senior Lecturer at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi, opined that the current face-off over the pump prices of petroleum products could be resolved through dialogue by Labour and other stakeholders. While cautioning Nigerians to always use all known legal and constitutional channels to oppose government policies and programmes instead of unnecessarily heating up the polity, he noted that a quick resort to strike would not ultimately resolve the current impasse as it would only worsen the nation's socio-economic situation.
