Group Dismisses Call for Kupolokun's Resignation From Josephine Lohor in Abuja The Civil Society Coalition of Nigeria has described as unnecessary the recent call for the resignation of the Group Managing Director of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Engr. Funsho Kupolokun due to the hike in prices of petroleum products. Describing the call as "inordinate, diversionary and utterly reject", the group stated that Kupolokun "had been able to checkmate the excesses and nefarious activities of independent oil marketers that have for long held Nigerians hostage in terms of dictating the supply of petroleum products to consumers". The Coalition, in a statement signed by its Secretary General and Public Relations Officer, Honorable Rabiu Khahid and Mohammed Sani respectively, noted that before Kupolokun came on board, "oil exploration was a monopoly of Western Multi-National companies today he has changed that negative trend. "Now, indigenous companies and businesses have been given opportunities to partake in the business of oil explorations through joint partnership projects with the NNPC. "The opening of NNPC Maga Stations in Kano, the pledge to open more and to resume the search for oil in Lake Chad Basin and Benue Trough are convincing credential that demands his continuous presence at the helm of NNPC".
