Obasanjo to Grace Civil Service Award Night President Olusegun Obasanjo will be special guest of honour at a dinner/award night for recently retired permanent secretaries and directors at the Banquet Hall, Presidential Villa on Wednesday June 23. The activity is part of weeklong celebrations of the Civil Service billed to begin on Friday. According to a programme from the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, celebrations will commence with special prayers during the Jumat Service at the National Mosque, Abuja. Other activities lined up for the celebrations include a retreat for permanent secretaries and directors with Vice-President Atiku Abubakar as special guest of honour; a parley with junior officers on Grade Level 0-6, where for the first time, junior staff will meet face to face and hold discussions with the Head of Service of the Federation, Yayale Ahmed. They will discuss with him outstanding issues without having to pass through superior officers. In addition, there will be a press briefing by Ahmed, a public service lecture by Professor Mike Obadan, titled: "Public Service Capacity Building for the African Renaissance on Tuesday, June 22, and a novelty football match between federal permanent secretaries and executives of the ECOWAS on Saturday June 18.
