Cleric Condemns NBC's Ban on Miracles
From Okon Bassey in PortHarcourt
Founder of Bethel Workshop Centre for All Nations with headquarters in Lagos, Apostle Gabriel Oduyemi, has described as evil, costly mistake and unjustifiable the ban of religious miracles on the television stations in the country.
Oduyemi, who made the remarks in Port Harcourt, Rivers State weekend, said miracle was part of the ministry and preaching of the word of God, saying in Nigeria there are men of God who have the gift of apostolic anointing to perform miracles.
According to him, miracles draw men closer to Christ and asked "when you ban miracle on television stations, how would people know that there is healing in the name of Jesus Christ."
The ban, he insisted, was a calculated attempt by the people of other faiths to stop the expansion of Christianity in Nigeria, wondering why miracle on televisions was not banned in other parts or countries of the world.
"The ban of miracle on television, I think, is a costly mistake and unjustifiable. It is evil because they are trying to hide the glory of the Almighty God," the clergy said, observing that before now, there was a move to stop the broadcasting of Christian programmes on the radio and television studios across the country.
The minister of God, who said he was in Port Harcourt for a three-day business summit, added that Nigerians should not heap the problems the country faces on President Olusegun Obasanjo as the problems were inherited.
Oduyemi maintained that the way forward to overcome our predicament is a meaningful dialogue and constructive criticisms, declaring that God did not make mistake to bless the country with enormous resources.
'The government alone cannot correct the problem of this country in one day to make the country a better place, we need to work together and criticise objectively, as I say before, no government has a solution to all human problems", he noted.
Nigeria, he argued, is heavily blessed with resources that can carter for the population, but our leader do not know how to go about it, or adopted wrong and faulty moves in executing programmes while others try to frustrate projects through corruption.
Speaking earlier during a courtesy call on Rivers State Governor, Dr Peter Odili the clergyman called on Nigerians to continue to pray and support government to enable it achieve its set goals.
