D/Gov Wants Peaceful Resolution of Boundary Disputes Imo From Christopher Isiguzo in Owerri Imo State Deputy Governor and Chairman of Imo State Boundary Adjustment Committee, Mr. Ebere Udeagu, has re-echoed his call for peaceful resolution of boundary disputes. He made the call when he received in audience, a team of the House of Representatives committee on special duties who paid him a courtesy call in Government House, Owerri. Udeagu said Imo State had maintained a record of being one of the most peaceful states in the country and could therefore not afford to toy with the record by allowing protracted boundary disputes. On the dispute between Imo and Abia states, he said relevant documents had been submitted to the National Boundary Commission, but the necessary screening had not been done due to some logistic delay from the side of Abia State. On the dispute between Imo and Rivers, he said both the High Court and Appeal Court had given judgement in favour of Imo State, adding that the matter had gone to the Supreme Court. He assured the visiting team of their security while in the state and promissed every co-operation to facilitate their work. Earliar in his speech, Leader of the Committee, Hon. Aidoko Alli, said the team was in the state in continuation of its tour of boundary dispute areas in oil producing states. The tour, according to him, was designed to acquaint members with problem that had over the years hindered the successful resolution of boundary disputes.
