Bolton Wanderers of
England captain, Austin Okocha will today join the Super Eagles at the Otta camp ahead the world cup
qualifier against Angola scheduled for this weekend in Luanda.
Chief coach,
Christian Chukwu disclosed to Daily Independent over the telephone
that the captain had already indicated his willingness to be part of the team
to end further speculations about the player’s commitment to the national
team.
“ There is no
cause for alarm. Okocha will be arriving today to join his colleagues and has
given his word so there is no reason to doubt him, “ said Chukwu.
Chukwu, who has
been in high spirits since the news of the player’s whereabouts was
broken, said he was optimistic of an excellent outing in Luanda despite the
level of opposition.
Okocha who arrived
the country, Sunday from France where he had gone holidaying with his family
nearly threw the Nigeria Football Association into panic when they could not
ascertain his whereabouts.
Their fears
heightened when he failed to reach them prior to the Unity Cup in London two
weeks ago after giving his word that he would honour the tournament.
