Emergency Rule: Senator Sues for Peace Senator Cosmas Niagwan has called on the people of the southern part of Plateau State not to transfer their aggression to National Assembly members from the state over the state of emergency. Niagwan explained that their representatives are so few that they were incapable of influencing the intention and decision of majority members of the house who voted in favour of the emergency. In democracy, whatever majority agreed upon is binding on whoever may be opposing� he said. Niagwan said this when he led National Assembly members form the southern zone on a peace tour of the areas affected by the recent crises in the state. Those in the team included Hon Victor Lar representing Langtang North/South federal; constituency and Hon. Bello Yero Wase federal constituency. Niagwan who noted that it was unnecessary trading and apportioning blames, disclosed that if everyone must revenge, there will never be an end to the crises. "What we need now in an emergency situation is peace. When peace is established we shall sit down and talk. We need to forgive and forget and reconcile". According to him, the state of emergency was not the wish of anybody but has now become a necessity for the enthronement of peace in the state. In his own contribution, Hon Lar admonished the people to eschew bitterness and strive hard for peace. According to him if we are aggrieved because our governor and House of Assembly have been suspended, we still have the opportunity to bring them back and put an end to the crises. If we cannot restore peace, then nobody should blame the representatives if the emergency rule is extended.
