Govt Introduces New Fertiliser Distribution Measures Bauchi From Segun Awofadeji in Bauchi Bauchi State government has evolved new measures of input distribution and sales to farmers to curtail the activities of middlemen and ensure food security for the citizenry. The state Commissioner of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Alhaji Bala Othman Suleiman, disclosed this recently at the launching ceremony of the Developing Agricultural Input Market in Nigeria held at Boto in Tafawa Balewa Local Govern-ment Area of the state. Suleiman reiterated the State Government's commitment to involve and support various initiative armed at improving farmers access to the three Agro-chemicals, saying that the greatest challenge to the government in its efforts to provide good quality and affordable agriculture input is the greatest problem of ensuring that the subsidy reaches the farmers. He said the state government was particularly pleased with the initiative of DAIMINA Project in supplying agricultural input and fertilizer to farmers at subsidised rate, adding that the gesture would greatly complement government effort towards boosting food production. The commissioner assured all stakeholders that government is showing interest in the activities of DAIMINA and would render its support whenever possible. In a welcome address, the Acting Programme Manager, Bauchi State Agricultural Development Programme (BSADP), Dr. A. Abdullahi, said the programme was being implemented in the three senatorial districts of the state. The Acting Programme Manager, who was represented by the Director, Planning in the BSADP, Alhaji Yahaya Hassan, stressed that the objective of the national special for food are to improve food security and living condition of the community.
