Akume Eulogises Iorshager Benue Benue State Governor, Mr. George Akume, has paid tribute to the late Chief Edgar Iorshager, former President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), saying the legacies he left behind will endure forever. He spoke while delivering the funeral oration of the late union leader, at the deceased compound in Mbagen, Buruku Local Government area. Akume said one of the late Iorshagher's legacies, which would continue to be remembered was his tireless effort to bring development to his community. According to him, the deceased was a pioneer labour leader from Benue State and one of the first to attain the commanding heights within the labour movement at the national level. "His tenure as the National President of the NURTW not only brought greater recognition and respect to the union, but led many indigenes of the state to occupy important positions in the union," he stressed. Akume said the late Iorshagher contributed immensely to the emergence of the Peoples Demo-cratic Party (PDP) in Buruku Local council and was instrumental in integrating it into the mainstream of national politics.
