House Panel Convenes to Appoint New C'ttee Heads From Ahamefula Ogbu in Abuja The Selection Commi-ttee of the House of Representatives has commenced deliberations on the joggling of Committee chairmanship and Deputy chairmanship positions preparatory to their dissolution. Sources close to the selection panel said it was after a thorough assessment of the performances of the Committees it decided to appraise them and relieve those found wanting of their duties and replace them with "fresh blood" for better performance. Our correspondent learnt that those whose jobs are most threatened were those who allegedly involved in asking for gratifications from places they had oversight functions in and those with multiple positions. Others who were alleged to have been running "one-man show" through not carrying fellow members along in the discharge of their functions are also sure to be changed in the current exercise. Chairmen, Depu-ties and Sub-Committee Chairmen who having more than one position would have them taken away and spread among those that do not have to reduce the discontent among members. Those who hold more than one sub-Committee Chairman-ship position will have them reduced to enable them improve their performances. However, some of those holding such positions the Selection Committee headed by the Speaker, Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari are planning to drop who spoke on condition of anonymity, threatened to withdraw their loyalty to the present leadership should they be dropped for no just cause.
