Firm to Invest N1.3bn in Battery Production From Cletus Akwaya in Abuja Exide Aldobow Limited based in Dubai United Arabs Emirate, is to invest $10 million( about N1.33 billion ) for the manufacturing of automotive and industrial batteries. The company, which is to be sited in Lagos according to the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC) will begin production before 2006. Executive Secretary of the Commission, Mustafa Bello who recieved the management of the company in his office pledged the commission's assistance to the company to enable it take-off without problems. As part of the assistance, Bello said NIPC would provide all the necessary guidance and information adding,"we shall provide Exide Aldobow Company the needed pioneer status and expatriate quotas to facilitate their early take off in Nigeria." The secretary expressed the determination of the Federal Government to provide the enabling environment for investments to thrive in the coutry, stresing that when there are investments' job opportunities would be created and poverty will be reduced to its barest minimum. Managing Director of Exide Aldobow Ltd. Mr. Surender Kandhari who led management staff of the company to Nigeria said over 300 Nigerians would be given direct employment while over 200 others would be indirectly employed.
