Akume Raises Panel to Probe Kwande Crisis Benue State Governor George Akume, has sworn in a Judicial Commission of Inquiry on the political crises in Kwande and Ukum local government areas, with a pledge to deal decisively with forces of instability. He said this at the Banquet Hall of Government House, Makurdi, adding that nobody, no matter his status, should test the resolve of his administration to resist evil, blackmail, arson and murder. Those sworn in were Justice Kazim Alogbo of the Lagos State judiciary, chairman, Justice Cosmas Idye of the Customary Court of Appeal, Makurdi, and Justice Emmanuel Ogbole, a retired judge of the Makurdi High Court, as members. According to Akume, the commission's terms of reference include inquiring into the immediate and remote causes of the crises in both local governments, and ascertaining human and material loses. They are to identify those responsible, consider matters incidental or relevant, and recommend appropriate measures to ensure lasting peace in the affected areas He gave the commission two months to submit its report.
