Lipede Seeks More Attention for Agric From Toba Suleiman in Abeokuta Alake of Egbaland, Oba Folorunsho Oyebade Lipede, yesterday expressed the need for all Chambers of Commerce and Industry across the country, to re-focus attention on agriculture for the purpose of making Nigeria self sufficient in food production. Speaking at his palace while hosting the new executive of the Abeokuta Chambers of Commerce, the monarch, who also doubles as the paramount ruler of Egbaland, said he was not happy with the relegated position of agricultural sector in the nation's economy. According to him, agriculture, which used to be the mainstay of the country's economy in the 60s and early 70s had been neglected by past administrations. Oba Lipede said if the nation was to win back her lost glory in food production, there was the need for various chambers of commerce in the country to contribute to the agricultural development of the nation. Said the royal father: "It won't be out of place if chambers of commerce and industry can complement the efforts of government through Agric-oriented project."
