Lagos Gets Go Ahead to Rehabilitate McGregor Canal By Shaka Momodu Federal Government has given the nod to the Lagos State Government to carry out work on the McGregor Canal, Ijeh, Obalende. This was disclosed yesterday at a joint press conference by the State Commissioner for Environment, Mr Tunji Bello and his counterpart in the Ministry of Physical Planning Hakeem Gbajabiamila. Bello disclosed that Governor Tinubu discussed the flood problem of Dolphin/Ijeh Housing Estate with, President Olusegun Obasanjo as part of the efforts by the state government to ensure that the project does not die." Fortunately, he said, "the response of the president has been positive, he has given his blessings to the project. Our State Governor Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu is also ready and I think it is time the people of Dolphin Estate should start singing Hallelujah." Stating further that any moment from now the impact of the State Government will be felt in the area. He disclosed that the project will commence from Dolphin Estate. Bello urged residents of the area to thank Tinubu for ensuring that the project becomes a reality. He said the flood problem at Dolphin could have been solved without much ado had there been co-oporation between the state government and the federal government on the matter.
