Robbers Burgle FMC, Abeokuta From Toba Suleiman in Abeokuta A gang of armed bandits on Monday morning stormed the Federal Medical Centre, (FMC) Abeokuta, and made away with a substantial amount of money realised from the sales of employment forms to applicants. The robbers were said to have stormed the hospital between 1 and 4 am on the fateful day, and made straight for the cashier and MD's offices, having ove powered guards at the gate. Sources told THISDAY that the robbers must have taken advantage of the just suspended strike by the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to perpetrate the act. It was further learnt that the hoodlums must have been monitoring activities in the hospital since the strike began, and discovered that the hospital kept cash in its vault within the centre. Though, it was still difficult to ascertain the actual amount carted away by the hoodlums, since the hospital was not fully operational in view of the strike, a source said reasonable cash amount must have been lost . The hospital management has been selling employment forms to members of the public for the recruitment of staff to strengthen its work-force at the rate of N500.
