CBN Approves Ekiti Branch From Dipo Okunmuyide in Ado-Ekiti Eight years after the creation of Ekiti State, Management of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has finally approved the establishment of its branch in the state. The State governor, Mr. Ayo Fayose, dropped the hint during a chat with newsmen in his office in Ado-Ekiti. The Fayose expressed optimism that the establishment of the bank in the state would enhance timely payment of staff salary and boost general financial transactions. He seized the oppurtunity to dispute opposition's claim that his administration has collected over N16 billion since inception, saying his government collected less than N10n billion from the federation account. According to the governor, the average monthly allocation acruing to the state from the federal account vary from N600 million to N800million every month, and the administration has spent only one year in office. On allegation that he misappropriated the sum of N1.3billion he deducted from local governments allocation in the state, he said the money was used to purchase earth moving equipement and tractors, which was a joint project between councils and the state government for the benefit of the people at the grassroots.
