Anambra Police Command Screens 2,500 Officers From Charles Onyekamo in Awka Anambra State Police Command has begun the screening of about 2,500 oficers in its fold, enlisted between 1998 and now. The Command's spok -esman, Mr. Kolapo Sofoluwe, told THISDAY in awka yesterday that the screening exercise which began on Monday month was being handled by the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police in charge of A Department, Force headquaters, Abuja, Mr. Sunday Ehindero. He is being assisted by the state's Police Commissioner, Mr. Felix Ogbandu, and some senior police officers. The excercise, which he said was in compliance with an order from the inspector General of Police, Mr Tafa Balogun, had seen about 300 officers screened. Out of this number, eight persons who could not defend their certificates or had falsified their ages were detected, arrested and handed over to the State Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID). The exercise, he noted, was living up to its billing, fishing out cheats in the Force, with the hope that it would improve the image of the Force.
