Police, Okada Riders Clash in Osun From Hammed Shittu in Osogbo About 1000 people have fled the ancient town of Ipetu-Ijesa in Oriade Local Government council of Osun State, as a result of violent clash between commercial cyclists and the Police . During the incident which started last Sunday, two persons were reportedly shot dead while two policemen were injured and arenow hospitalised in an undisclosed private hospital. Also, two Police vehicles marked "operation fire for fire "and the Divisional Police station were touched by the mob. THISDAY checks revealed that trouble started when Police driver was accused of causing the death of an okada rider in the town. Okada riders mobilised themselves and set two vehicles belonging to the Police ablaze and badly damaged three othes parked at the station. They the divisional Police station and official residence of policemen in the town. Our sources added that when the atmosphere became charged, residents of the town decided to pack their belongin out of the town and moved to nearby towns for safety. A visit of our correspondent to the town yesterday revealed, the situation was still tense as people were seen in groups discussing theincident. In a chat with newsmen, Osun State Police boss, Alhaji Audu Abubakar, described the incident as unfortunate.
