'Emergency Rule Campaign in Delta Malicious' From Jaiyeola Andrews in Asaba Against the backdrop of campaign in some quarters that a State of Emergency be pronounced in Delta State, Chairman of Sapele Local Council, Chief Monday Igbuya, has said such campaign was malicious, uncalled for, and as such be dismissed with a wave of hand. Igbuya who spoke to THISDAY yesterday in Asaba, aside what happened in Plateau State that culminated into the declaration of a state of emergency, was extremely different from that of Delta State. "Governor James Ibori was in firm control of Delta State, and has initiated peace processes that has been yielding positive result" he said. Igbuya said there was no serious security breach across the state, adding that those calling for a state of emergency in the state are doing so with bad blood, ill-motive, envy, as well as engaging in evil plot to pull the state down. He restated Ibori's commitment to peace in the Warri axis of the state, also said anytime Ibori is out of the country and hears any disturbance, he would run back to the state, meet with the warring group and bring normaly to the area. He took a swipe at the suspended Governor of Plateau State, Joshua Dariye, for staying back in overseas for two weeks, while his state was burning, adding that his act was a gross negligence. While commenting on the President's power to declare a state of emergency, he said the President exercised his constitutional power as backed by the National Assembly.
