Tukur Delivers Lagos Assembly Public Lecture
The chairman of the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission, Alhaji Hamman A. Tukur, is to deliver the third in the series of the Lagos State House of Assembly Public Finance Lecture.
According to a release issued by the chairman, Lagos State House of Assembly finance Commi-ttee, Hon. Kolapo Osunsan-ya, the main objective of the annual Lecture series instituted in 2001, is to provide a forum for seasoned experts and technocrats from the public and private sectors to brainstorm annually on germane contemporary and emergent issues in Public Finance with a view to enhancing the quality and quantum of public sector resource generation, allocation and utilisation towards national economic growth.
The theme for this year's lecture scheduled to hold on Tuesday 29th June 2004 at the Lagos Sheraton Hotel & Towers, in Ikeja is "Revenue Mobilisation and Fiscal Efficiency: Strategies for Enhanced Mobilisation and Optimal Utilisation Towards Efficient Service Delivery at State and local governments levels."
The governor of Lagos State, Alhaji Bola Tinubu is the Chief Guest of Honour, while Mr. Femi Pedro, Lagos State Deputy Gover-nor, is the Special Guest of Honour. Senator Olorun-nimbe Mamora, Chairman, Senate Committee on Ethics & Priviledges and former Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly is the Chairman of the occasion while Hon. Jokotola Pelumi, Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly is the Chief Host.
To underscore the importance of this year's lecture, two other eminent technocrats have been invited as lead contributors. They are Dr. E.N. Osemene, Presi-dent, Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria/Secre-tary, Joint Tax Board and Mr. Bode Agusto, Special Adviser to the President on budgets/Director General, Budget Office of the Federation.
Past Guest Speakers at the Public Finance Lecture are Mallam Suleyman Ndanusa, Director-General, Securities & Exchange commission (2001), Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, former Director-General, BPE and now Minister of the FCT (2003)
