Ibori U-20 Tourney Expanded Table tennis, power-lifting now included By Duro Ikhazuagbe The much-postponed Nkoyo Ibori Under-20 Athletics Championship has been expanded to include table tennis and special sport power lifting. THISDAYSports learnt yesterday in Lagos that the decision to include the two sports was taken in order to give the Delta State First Lady-sponsored competition a festival touch. Already, officials of the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation and the Special Sports (where Mrs Nkoyo Ibori is the chair person) are putting heads together to fashion out how to make the best of the opportunity provided by the championship. The Under-20 athletics event was earlier slated for April but was moved to May due to unforeseen circumstances. It was again shifted to June as a result of the nearness to the start of the 14th National Sports Festival that took place in Abuja. According to the AFN Dr Simon Ebhojiaye, all conditions like sponsorship of nine athletes and one official per state remains in addition to free passage and accommodation. If the new arrangement goes without any hitch, the Under-20 meet will hold between June 28 and July 2 at the E.U. Esuene Stadium in Calabar, the home city of the Delta First Lady.
