Starcomms Boss Alerts on Fake Recharge Cards Starcomms boss, Mr. Dirk Smet, has alerted its subscribers and the general public of the existence of fake Starcomms recharge cards in the market. Mr. Smet, who disclosed this last week at a special luncheon organised for Starcomms' daelers in Lagos, said that market intelligence revealed that some unscrupulous persons re-cover recharge numbers of used Starcomms recharge cards with a silver-coloured foil lining. Numbers of the original recharge cards he pointed out, is covered by a panel of gray, wavy lines. Mr. Smet, who stated that as a customer-oriented company, Starcomms was already concemed about the trend, also advised subscribers to always buy their Starcomms recharge cards from accredited and authorised dealers and outlets adding that they should always look out for the gray, wavy lines covering on the recharge numbers. He also urged subscribers to always destroy or mutilate their recharge cards after recharging, to avoid recycling adding that they should endeavour to report any vendor of fake Starcomms recharge cards to the police immediately, or in the altemative, to Starcomms directly on 804 1234 or*123 from any Starcomms phone. Starcomms which is the first PTO in Nigeria to attain a 100,000 subscriber base began operations in Nigeria in 1997. The network recently celebrated the milestone with special commemorative gifts to the 100,000th subscriber, Mr. Ramon Olaleye, an Outdoor Advertising practitioner based in Lagos.
