Lagos Polo Club election holds on Monday

Come June 21, 2004
Lagos polo club would meet to elect new committee members who will run the
activities of the highbrow club for another one year beginning from their time
of election.
The election date
has also been fixed as Club’s Annual General Meeting.
Daily
Independent gathered that nomination for would-be committee-members is
still on and would officially
close two days before the election.
Already, a number
of contestants have signified interest in different position.
Eyeing the
presidency presently occupied by Sanni Dangote is Bayo Amusan whom Daily
Independent gathered was nominated by the club captain, Francis Ogboro
and was seconded by Farouk Musa.
Viewing for the Ist
Vice President position is Chief Omotosho while +2 handicap player, Mustapha
Damcida has shown interest in 2nd Vice President of the club.
Mustapha who has
not held any major position at the club would, if elected contribute to the
club at top hierarchy.
Also eyeing the
position of the honourable secretary of the club is Mustapha Fasinro while Umar
F. Musa has proposed Abdulahi Ibrahim for the post of the clubs Treasurer.
Meanwhile, the club
would present one team, Lagos Machine as its official representative in this
year’s edition of the annual Kano Polo tournament. The Nigeria Polo
Association (NPA) organised five-day championship would gallop off from July 1
and would end on July 5th.
In the Lagos
Machine team for the event are Madugu Dantata who plays off handicap +2, Adamu
Yaro +4, Jamilu Mohammed +4 and Yerima Mohammed +0.
They would be vying
for honours in the Danatata Cup which total handicap is expected to be between
+6 to -9.
