Confusion as Iberia Airline aircraft makes air returnsola adekola
THERE was confusion at the Murtala Muhammed Airport on Sunday, when a Boeing 777 aircraft belonging to Iberia Airline, the Spanish national carrier which took off earlier taxied back due to an alleged technical fault. The Madrid-bound aircraft had over 100 Nigerians on board including Nigeria�s Ambassador to Spain, Dr. Kingsley Ebenyi and about no fewer than 20 members of Lagos State cultural troupe. The aircraft was said to have developed problem mid- air and the pilot decided to return to the airport to avert any disaster. The passengers were taken to Eko Le Meridien to rest pending when an alternative flight would be provided. At the time of filing this report, it was not known whether the aircraft has been repaired or whether the passengers have eventually left. Iberia Air resumed operations to Nigeria through the Murtala Muhammed Airport last Wednesday. The airline used to fly into Nigeria until it stopped about 20 years ago.
