Marwa Denies Rift With Atiku Former Military Administrator of Lagos State, Brigadier-General Mohammed Buba Marwa, yesterday denied any rift with Vice President Atiku Abubakar over the aspiration for 2007 Presidency. Marwa, who was at the State House, but refused to disclose the nature of his visit, also told State House Corespondents that the barrage of chieftaincy titles he has been receiving across the country had nothing to do with his political ambition. Rather, he said the chieftaincy titles were given as a mark of recognition "of what those who gave them believe I have done to deserve them and there is one on the 26th of this month." The former administrator said "the relationship between me and Vice president Atiku Abubakar is very cordial. He is my elder brother from Adamawa. He has not told me he has interest in 2007 Presidency. Have you read it somewhere?" Speaking on the failure of his airline, Albarka, to get clearance to ply some routes in West Africa under the Bilateral Air Services Agreement recently signed by the Federal Government, Marwa said Albarka did not in the first place even apply to fly the routes. "We did not apply for West Africa and that is why we were not mentioned in the recent approved airlines. But we are working with Air Niger now. We are trying to do "a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for us to do some of the routes in the West Coast," Marwa added. Giving further insight into his endowment fund for the underprivileged, Marwa said "it depends on the support I am receiving. You know I am not doing it alone. A lot of people of goodwill, corporate organisations are supporting us. I know we have spent about N50 million so far with all the contributions within the last one year on scholarships, assistance to widows, help in education, boreholes, we are doing about 30 in 12 states."
