Delta Group Demands Power Shift From Jaiyeola Andrews in Asaba Equity 2007, a group mainly from the North and South senatorial districts of Delta State, over the weekend in Asaba, at the end of its meeting insisted that power must shift to other districts in 2007. The meeting which was attended by serving commissioners, special advisers and assistants in Ibori's administration, was chaired by Commissioner for Ethnic and Conflict resolutions, Ovuozourie Macualay. The group said they are not being confrontational but noted that they were merely articulating their position on the issue of power shift in the state. Chairman of Publicity Committee for the group, who is also a commissioner for special duties, said he has no governorship ambition. While stating that all the senatorial districts have a stake in governance and as such in 2007, the governorship position must rotate beginning from either the south or north senatorial districts, since the central has been occupying the position since the creation of the state. Interim chairman of the group, Macauley said the group was not formed to criticise the government as being speculated in some quarters. According to him, the group was formed to campaign for other constituent senatorial districts of the state to have a shot at the governorship position come 2007, adding that the central senatorial district has had enough after having been governing the state from its creation.
