Group Urges Fayose to Ignore Adebayo, AD
Ekiti Network Alliance, a pressure group within the People's Democratic Party (PDP) has asked Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose to ignore the vituperations of Otunba Niyi Adebayo and his cohorts in the AD.
In a press statement yesterday, Ekiti Network's Chairman, Otunba Femi Ayodele described Otunba Adebayo's continued attacks on Fayose as ploys to distract him from achieving his set objectives. He added that "AD Chairman, Akosile the other week told lies about the amount Fayose collected from the Federation Account."
He also distorted facts in order to make the AD look good, but forgot that the Ekiti people are knowledgeable people."
Tasking the former governor and the AD chairman, Otunba Ayodele asked them to explain what happened to the N120m Ibuji-Igbara-Odo Ekiti Road,
"This is the road to the AD chairman's town. Otunba Adebayo passed it as a completed road, yet no work was done on it. The AD chairman kept quiet because that crime was perpetrated by his party. Let them remove the log in their eyes before looking at other people's."
Ekiti State, the Alliance said, was in a better hand now because the larger majority are getting the dividends of democracy which the AD denied them by constantly saying Ekiti had no money.
"Otunba Adebayo who couldn't deliver his federal constituency during election or deliver his local government is now pontificating when he is a yesterday's man. Today, Ekiti roads are getting better, more communities have light, while over 100 water points have been provided in the state capital. It is because they know that Fayose's policies are consigning them to dustbins of history that they are fretting.
Advising them, Olufemi urged the former governor to embrace truth and pragmatism. "A party that preaches justice and fairplay should know that truth is a cardinal pre-requisite of justice" he said, while advising the former governor to hold his peace until the report of the probe into his administration is submitted.
"If he has no skeleton, he won't be punished. But we all know how the government soiled its hands. It was actually their greediness that blinded them and prevented them from delivering dividends of democracy.
He challenged Adebayo to take journalists from major media electronic and print to inspect Ibuji-Igbara-Odo road which he claimed he spent N120m on, if he wanted to be seen as the voice of Ekiti which he is presently arrogating to himself. Only when he can pass these simple test should he and his party chairman who comes from the same locality talk about probity, prudence.
