Zamfara Donates N2.6m to Plateau Refugees Cash relief assistance amounting to N2,683,409 collected from the general public through 1442 mosques in Zamfara State was presented to the Bauchi State Government in aid of victims of Yelwan-Shendam ethno-religious uprising in Plateau State now taking refuge in Bauchi State.. Also presented to the Bauchi State Government on behalf of the people of Zamfara State through a six-man delegation led by the Zamfara Chief Imam, Alhaji Muhammadu Dan Alhaji were two lorries loads of clothing materials and food items to alleviate the sufferings of the refugees. The clothing materials which, according to the Zamfara Chief Imam, would cater for the needs of about 20,000 refugees, while the food items include millet, corn, rice, beans among others. Zamfara State government had last month made a cash donation of N5 million in aid of the refugees while Kaduna and Gombe State governments followed also donated N3 million each. Kano State government had sent food items to Bauchi worth N6 million like its Jigawa State counterpart, which also dispatched food stuff running into millions of naira. Presenting the bank's draft for the amount and the two lorry load of clothing materials and food items to Governor Ahmed Adamu Mu'azu, Alhaji Muhammadu Alhaji said transport expenditure for the delivery of the commodities and the delegation was shouldered by the Zamfara State government. Receiving the donation on behalf of the refugees, Governor Mu'azu said a special account has already been opened for such monies, which would later be shared among the refugees by a committee to be set up by the government.
