19 Robbery Suspects Held

No fever than 19 suspected dare devil armed robbery bandits including a 45 year old Togolese are in the custody of the Ogun State police command over their alleged involvement in robberies.
Briefing newsmen in Abeokuta at the State Police Command, Eleweran police Commissioner, Mr Samuel Adekunle, disclosed that five other suspects were not that lucky as they were gunned down during a cross fire with the police patrol team attached to Odogbolu and Obalende Divisions.
He explained that the dead robbers, and their comrade-in-arms Sunday Azogor and John Abu (Togolese) with others still at large belong to a group which blocked Sagamu/Benin express way at Odogbolu and robbed the passengers of a luxury bus no XA193MEN.
Adekunle disclosed the arrest of an Okada rider, Mr Yinka Olowogbade who robbed his passenger, Fausat Alatise of N20,500 gave a two-week ultimation to all Okada riders in the state to get registered or face the wrath of the law.
According to the police boss other suspects picked up were Sunday Azogor (26), John Abu (45) Togolese, Samuel (27), Sunday Igwe and Monday Nomel (from Ebonyi State) while Adesuji Oremuyiwa hails from Ogun State.
Others are Jamiu Yinusa (23), Gbenga Olusanya (23), Musibau Adebayo (20), Idowu Musa (22) all from Ogun State, while Yinka Olowogbade hails from Ondo State.
Nineteen armed robbery suspects were arrested, while five were killed during an encounter with our men, Adekunle further explained.
Adekunle further told newsmen that items recovered included an unregistered NAFANG motor Cycle, Cutlasses, Knives. Live Cartridges and N90 000.00.
According to the CP the arrested Togolese normally joins Azogor's gang whenever they have robbery operation in Abeokuta, adding that one of the G3 riffles recovered from them was discovered to have been snatched from customs Men in one of their previous operations.
