'No Plan to Retrench or Casualise' Ogun Management of the Ogun State Board of Internal Revenue said it has no plan to retrench or casualise workers appointments as alleged by the National Public Service Trade Negotiating Council (NPSTNC) Ogun State Chapter. The NPSTNC in its communique described the autonomy recently granted the board by the state government as illegal and that it was an attempt to casualise the workforce and eventually retrench some of the workers. While refuting the allegation said to have been reported in some National dailies, the Board in a release signed on behalf of its Chairman, Mrs Morenike Babington - Asaye said rather than retrenching, it has even concluded plans for an in-house training for its staffers. Explaining what autonomy means to the board, Babington - Asaye said, it means efficiency, freedom from externalities and better workers welfare package. 'It gives the board the right to have the authority on the calibre and competence of staff required for its efficiency, the right to promote its workers and the right to discipline the staff without recourse to any authority for action'. She said the autonomy will equally assist the board to realise its targeted revenue and plug all loopholes for pilfering of public fund. According to the chairman, marching orders granted to the board double internally generated revenue properly and legally within the autonomous powers in Part III, paragraph 15 section 2 of Ogun State Board of Internal Revenue edict of 30th December, 1996.
