Tough Time Awaits Erring Civil Servants Jigawa Civil Servants in Jigawa State will henceforth be punished for contractual breaches in accordance with civil service laws. This was contained in a document of action for the state, which was agreed to by all stake-holders in the state's policy implementation committee established by the state government. The committee said any government which wants to achieve its goal must have a committed civil service to translate its policies. It lamented that, civil servants in the state though amongst the most motivated in the country are not as productive as they are expected to be. According to the document, all workers in the state's employment will be punished according to their breaches without fear or favour. No one will escape the wrath of the civil service whenever rules are broken. Workers in the state have been frequently accused by the government for not performing according to the rule of civil service procedure. Apart from absenting themselves from their offices they are also accused of late coming which government feels translates to reaping only when collection of their salary due. Meanwhile, state workers have responded complaining of having nothing to do in the office, which is the reason why they opt to absent themselves.
