Turaki Advised on Polio Eradication Jigawa From Bala Nasir in Dutse Jigawa State government has been advised to emulate the strategies adopted by the Kano State government in polio eradication in the state. The advice was made by Dr Abdurrahman Rafindadi at a workshop organised by UNICEF and the Jigawa State government in order to sensitise religious and traditional rulers on global polio eradication campaign in the state's capital. Rafindadi who is at the centre of the polio controversy which ensued between leaders in the north and facilitators of the campaign in the country, said Kano state govenrment is trying to douse the tension raised by opponents of the polio campaigns. It said, the Federal and state government's letter asking them to respond to the allegation has been replied and according to Dr Rafindadi, the Kano state made efforts to procure its own polio vaccine to administer to children in the state. If this, he said, will make people that have been vehement or resisting the vaccines before now accept it, then it is worth emulating in order to save children in the state in particular and the country in general. Two more additional cases were reported at the workshop thus increasing the recent polio cases in the state to eight.
