ALGON Chairman Asks Members to Perform Katsina From Jare Ilelaboye in Katsina Newly elected Chairman of the Katsina State chapter of Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), Alhaji Ahmed Dayabu Safana, has warned against laxity on the part of members of the association and asked them to perform inorder to achieve results. Speaking shortly after being elected by the chairmen of 64 local councils in the state, Safana called on the members not to abandon the job of the association to only executives of the chapter. Noting that the last executive did not receive much cooperation from members, Safana said if members were united in their endeavour to move the association forward, a lot would be achieved to move the present situation in which local councils have found themselves in the country. He appealed to members to always attend meetings regularly as failure to do so may retard the progress of the association. Others elected during the association's annual meeting include Vice Chairman, Alhaji Aminu Bakori, Dr Aliyu Musawa Treasurer, Alhaji Salisu Majgiri, Public Relations officer, Alhaji Bishir Baba Kaita, Legal Adviser, Alhaji Yau Umar Financial Secretary and Comrade Biliyaminu Rimi, Auditor. All the 64 local government councils chairmen in the state were present at the meeting.
