Tribunal Strikes Out LG Election Petition From Yinka Kolawole in Lokoja Kogi State Local government Election Tribunal has dismissed a petition challenging the election of Mr. Maji Odaudu, as Chairman of Omala local Government council in the state. Presenting the tribunal's decision, its chairman, Mr. Alaba Ajileye, said the petitioner, Mr. Abel Epah has failed to prove any of the allegations contained in his petition. The tribunal also expressed satisfaction that Odaudu resigned his appointment more than 30 days to the date of the local government polls as stipulated by law. Epah had earlier challenged the election of Odaudu also of the PDP as chairman of Omala local government council on the basis that the chairman was not validly nominated to contest the election. The petitioner alleged that Odaudu was not qualified to contest the election having failed to resign his appointment and failure to pay his tax as at and when due. In his judgment, the tribunal chairman, Mr. Ajileye said members were satisfied that Odaudu resigned his appointment in accordance with the provision of the law.
