Mighty Jets Fans Burn Stadium From Fumni Peter-Omale in Jos Angered by the late equaliser by the Kwara United football club of Ilorin in their Globacom Premier league match on Sunday in Jos, supporters of Mighty Jets FC of Jos went on rampage vandalising the Jos Township stadium and completely razing down the State Football Association secretariat. gate-takings running into hundreds of thousands of naira were also lost in the inferno. Though, the fire service were immediately alerted, the secretariat had been burnt down to ashes before their arrival. also, destroyed in the inferno were the conference room and dressing room. It took the combined efforts of men of the Nigeria Police and Nigerian Army to rescue one of the match officials who was held hostage at the stadium for over one hour by supporters of the Jos side who refused all entreaties to leave the arena. They were however forced to leave after canisters of teargas was used to disperse the fans.
