France, England Hit Q'finals Euro 2004 Group favourites France and England proved the pundits right last night when they both secured the tickets to the quarter-finals of the European Championships. England, which had lost her opening match 2-1 to France, were comfortable 4-2 winners over Croatia while France put down the challenge of Switzerland 3-1 to top Group B. France's win ensured that they avoided meeting the hosts Portugal in the quarter-finals on Thursday, this tricky task now falls on England. The French will meet surprise packet Greece in the other round of eight tie. England came back form an early jolt from the Croats, who had almost got the better of defending champions France last week before a poor back pass allowed the French draw the game 2-2, before levelling through Paul Scholes after good work down the left by Ashley Cole. Therry Henry finally ended his goals' drought when he netted two second half goals to give the defending champions victory.
