Leroy Stays With DR Congo Claude Leroy has decided to stay in the DR Congo French coach Claude Leroy has changed his mind, for the time being, about leaving the DR Congo after he met with Sports Minister Omer Egwake. Leroy had threatened to return to Paris on Saturday but decided to stay after his talks with the minister and the country's football federation, Fecofa. The former Cameroon coach then helped the Simbas win a dramatic 2006 World Cup qualifier over Burkina Faso by three goals to two. The federation's vice-president Laurent Nkwimi said they met Leroy on Friday when they learnt he was leaving for Paris without telling Fecofa. "Fecofa's executive and Sports Minister have met Leroy to persuade him that we need him," Nkwimi said. "We have asked him to wait until next week so that we can put pressure on the government to settle his contract, so that we don't loose him" He added that he would understand if Leroy decided to leave if his contract was not sorted out. "It's his right if he decides to go home if the contract negotiations fail," Nkwimi said. "He didn't come here to be a tourist but to work. "Leroy won't be able to coach our team if the government fails to release funds to settle his contract. "We are doing our best to sort out Leroy's impeding contract and we hope to find a solution very soon.
