NEXIM provides exporters N40b loan facility Nigerian exporters have secured over N40 billion from the Nigerian Export and Import Bank (NEXIM) under its revolving loan scheme. The bank has also put in place incentives to reduce difficulties faced by other commercial banks towards the financing of export and import related problems. The bank’s Managing Director, Alhaji Baba Yusuf, disclosed this when he spoke with journalists on NEXIM’s achievements in the past one-year. He explained that the bank has lived up to its expected responsibility of encouraging and promoting exportation of Nigerian products to improve the economy. NEXIM, according to him, has also encouraged other commercial banks to participate in the bank’s credit revolving system, noting that the number of participating banks has risen to 20 from the initial six. The credit loan facility, Yusuf explained, is not restricted to banks alone, but also to corporate organisations and individuals. NEXIM, he said, is in the forefront in the ongoing cassava and related products promotion, adding that the banks’ assistance is readily available to interested parties. The deliberate policy of the bank to avail credit facility to target audience, the managing director stated, is a continuous one aimed at improving the Nigerian economy.       Copyright� 2002.
