Sao Tome President Visits Rivers From Josephine Lohor in Abuja and Okon Bassey in Port Harcourt President of the Democratic Republic of Sao Tome and Principe, Mr Fradique Bandeira Melo De Menezes will arrive Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital today for a two-day visit to the state. The Nigerian Ambassador to Sao Tome and Principe, Mr Saidu Pindan announced this at a dinner hosted by the Rivers State Governor, Dr Peter Odili at Government House Port Harcourt, saying though President Menezes had visited Nigeria in the past, he had never gone beyond Abuja. Rivers State, Ambassador Pindan said, is the natural place for the Sao Tome and Principe President to visit because of the state's strategic location and its profile of hospitality. President De Menezes arrived Abuja yesterday evening for a three-day state visit. He was accorded a gun salute as part of the official welcome ceremony at the forecourt of the presidential villa, after which the President began bilateral talks with President Olusegun Obasanjo at the council chambers.
