We Bear No Grudge Against IBB - Vatsa's Family From Segun Awofadeji in Bauchi National Coordinator, National Coalition for Atiku 2007, Mr. Jonathan Vatsa yesterday said the Vatsa family bear no grudge against former military President, General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida (rtd) for the execution of their breadwinner, General Mamman Vasta, saying they have since "put the case in God's court." He also urged Nigerians, particularly politicians to be wary of recycling former military leaders in the country and go for a dedicated, committed and visionary civilian leadership for Nigeria come 2007. Jonathan, who is the junior brother of late Mamman Vatsa, made the declaration at a press conference held at the NUJ centre, Bauchi. According to him, "the fact that I am heading the Atiku 2007 campaign team should not be seen as championing a revenge mission against retired General Babangida, who is also eyeing the presidential seat, especially because both of us come from Niger state." He added that "I am only exercising my constitutional right of association and I believe that we have had enough of military dictatorship in this country whether through the khaki or Babanriga," declaring that it was high time Nigerians put a stop to the recycling of former military leaders in the country. Vatsa noted that Vice President Atiku Abubakar had been instrumental in all the democratic goals scored by the present Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)-led government, saying "if continuity worked in 2003, I believe it can still work in 2007."
