Fayose Summons Commissioner Over Debt to Parastatal From Dipo Okunmuyide in Ado-Ekiti Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State has summoned the state's Commissioner for Education, Mrs Esther Fabusuyi over several millions of naira owed the state-owned printing press by the ministry. Fayose, who issued the summon yesterday in Ado-Ekiti during an inspection of the distressed government press, expressed displeasure over the failure of various government ministries and parastatals to pay the huge debt they owe the printing press. He disclosed his intention to give the printing press about N10 million loan to repair some of its machines, adding that government agencies will be compelled to patronise the press to enhance its operations. He observed that the major problems facing the press are over-staffing and obsolete equipment and charged the management to restructure the outfit to enable it generate enough fund to sustain itself rather than depending on subvention. Welcoming the governor to the press earlier, General Manager Chief Samuel Ogundare complained that the major problem facing the outfit is low government patronage and the huge debt owed the press by various government agencies, especially the state's Ministry of Education owing several millions of naira. In a related development, Governor Fayose has assured that his government will co-operate with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) to ensure the success of its survey of micro, small and medium enterprises in Ekiti State.
