Afolabi's Mourners Jubilate Over Omisore's Release
FROM SEUN ADEOYE (OSOGBO)

THE mourning mood at the interdenominational service for the late former Minister on Internal Affairs, Chief Michael Afolabi gave way to a moment of jubilation yesterday in Osun State, following news of the release of the former Deputy Governor, Chief Iyiola Omisore from Agodi Prison, Ibadan custody.

The inter-religious service at the Osogbo Township Stadium was mid-way when information filtered in that Omisore had been discharged and acquitted by an Ibadan High Court.

Party supporters and sympathisers of Omisore turned the venue of the funeral service into a carnival-like atmosphere, with songs of victorious . They danced round the stadium complex.

Other people joined them in the celebration and the whole stadium erupted in wild jubilation.

In a swift reaction to Omisore's release, the National Vice Chairman (South- West) of the ruling People Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olabode George said the truth would always prevail, no matter how long. His words: "Somebody has been incarcerated and he is now released. Isn't that better for him

  • "The truth will always prevail, no matter how long. It can only be delayed. We (PDP) are happy with him.

The way Chief Bola Ige died we did not like it. These kind of political assassinations, our prayer is that they will never reccur in the Southwest or even in Nigeria again.

" Now that he has been discharged and acquitted, I say congratulation to him. I also congratulate his family and we are looking forward receiving him back into our fold"

At the inter-religious service for the late Afolabi, the Primate, African Church, Nigeria, Rev. Onadotun Onanuga preached about judgement after death .
